Difference between CCS Modem and External ISP Modem

When you connect to the CCS modems, you will be dynamically allocated an IP addres in the Imperial college domain. Such an address allows you to access some internal services, such as electronic journals, that are authenticated using these IP addresses. If you instead use an External ISP, you may find that you do not have permission to use such facilities.
