Using Outlook on MacOS
Outlook (v 8.2.3) is available on MacOS. However, it is not
fully compatible with Windows Outlook, and can be more
difficult to properly configure. For this reason, we do not
recommend its use. If however, you do wish to configure it,
detailed instructions can be obtained here.
The Difference between Outlook and Outlook Express
There is much confusion about these two, quite separate,
software products. Outlook is a so-called "Exchange" client,
and implements proprietory Microsoft protocols for
communicating between the client and the exchange server. You
would use this if you have been allocated an email account on
an exchange server. Outlook Express is a so-called POP client,
and implements non-proprietory protocols for communicating with
a POP server, such as argon.ch.ic.ac.uk. You could use this if
you have an email account on argon.ch.ic.ac.uk, although many
other alternatives are available.
