The nine compounds from the piperidone prelibrary were pooled and divided into nine separate flasks. Each was reacted with a monosubstituted hydrazine to provide the final mixture. As stated previously, the reaction was often accompanied by small amounts of byproducts which was not a catastrophe except for mixture #3. The reaction of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylhydrazine with the piperidone gave the undesired regioisomer as the major product. For this reason, this mixture was not included in the assay. HPLC and mass spectral analysis was used to confirm the presence of the individual compounds in the mixture.
