Dihydroquinazoline derivative
The Synthesis of the quinazoline derivative is performed in 12 M HCl using
formaldehyde (1 equiv.). An almost quantitative reaction is observed as indicated by HPLC analysis, a 60% yield is obtained
after purification. The quinazoline molecule is an intermediate in the formation of the Tröger's base.
Reaction of the quinazoline derivative with excess of formaldehyde in 12 M HCl yields to the corresponding Tröger's
base with nearly quantitative yield.
