Comparison of CpFe(COMe)(PPh3)(CO) and CpFe(SnPh3)(CO)(CCMe2)

Vinylidenes such as Fe(SnPh3)(CO)(=C=CMe2)(h-C5H5) structurally are closely related to the Davies acyl Fe(COMe)(CO)(PPh3)(h-C5H5). Note how approach of reagents from one side of the acyl is prevented by the phosphine in the Davies compound. A similar effect is seen in our vinylidene complexes.
