Chiral sulfides have been developed which allow the catalytic asymmetric epoxidation with good to excellent enantiocontrol for a range of aldehydes.
This process allows the one pot preparation of epoxides from aldehydes under neutral conditions.
The best catalyst was found to be the simplest, giving good yields and enantiomeric excesses of up to 93%.
