The protected aldehydes were refluxed in Dioxane-Diglyme with Cr(CO)6. Acidic hydrolisis of acetals affords the complexed aldehydes.
Reaction condition:
i) Cr(CO)6 , Dioxane/Diglyme , 110°C
ii) H3O+
