Installation of Cambridge Database update on UNIX server



    

  1. Transfer the entire contents of the update DVD to webmaster@neon.ch.ic.ac.uk  into the directory /opt/chemistry/install/ using sftp (depending on your cat-5 uplink, this can 
take as little as  2-3 minutes (~2 Gbytes). 

  2. Prior to starting:
sudo mv /opt/chemistry/cambridge/  /opt/chemistry/cambridge-temp/ 

  3. In the install directory, you may have to invoke:
sudo  chmod 755 csdinstall  (the distribution does not come with execute permissions on the script, for safety reasons!)

  4. From that directory, invoke  ./csdinstall as follows:
sudo  ./csdinstall

  5.  When prompted for a path to the install, type  /opt/chemistry/ (the cambridge path is added by the script)

  6. The install will take around  5 minutes to complete.

To update the database, go to http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/prods/conquest/updates/ The Site no. is 183, the confirmation code is FF652D. You should upload the .bin updater to the install directory as above and then (after possibly giving it execute permissions), run the updater. All else is done more or less automatically.
